Our Rooms

At Sunflower Smile Childcare, we've thoughtfully designed our spaces to cater to the unique developmental needs of every child, from their very first months through to their preparation for school. Each room provides a safe, stimulating, and age-appropriate environment where children can learn, explore, and thrive with confidence.

Nursery

Our Nursery Room is a vibrant space designed for toddlers generally aged between 14 and 32 month. Here, children are given abundant opportunities to learn through play and enjoy enriching adult-led activities such as story time, listening activities, singing, and music. The Nursery Room is fully equipped for exciting messy activities and crafts, including painting, water and sand play, and other lively activities designed to build children’s muscles and coordination.

The nursery boasts a main playroom which provides a comfortable area for play and relaxation, alongside a dedicated ‘messy’ area where children enjoy their meals and engage in hands-on activities. For quiet time, the Nursery Room also has its own sleep room where children have small camp beds to get comfortable on and lullabies played to help them sleep. The room is also equipped with its own toilet and nappy area, where there are child sized toilets, accesible pottys, and a nappy changing unit where independence is encouraged by them climbing up the steps.

A typical day in the Nursery Room consists of periods of free play and adult-led activities like circle time, story time, singing, snack time, and outdoor play. Circle time encourages children to talk and listen in group situations, keeping these periods appropriately short for their age. During free play, children develop social skills and learn to play cooperatively with others. They can nurture their imaginations through play with different sized wooden blocks, farmyard sets, train tracks, and a roleplay area. A wide range of art and craft activities, as well as sand and water play, are planned on a daily basis.
