Meet Our Entry in the Saxilby Scarecrow Trail 2026!
Autumn has officially arrived at Sunflowers Nursery, and we are so excited to announce that we are taking part in this year’s Saxilby Scarecrow Trail!
If you’ve taken a stroll past the nursery recently, you might have noticed a very special new guest standing proudly outside our gates. Our children and staff have been busy putting their creative skills to the test to design and build our very own Sunflowers Scarecrow—and we couldn’t be prouder of the result!
The Story Behind Entry
The children in our setting absolutely love Julia Donaldson books! Inspired by this passion, our Big Pre-School group chose the classic story Monkey Puzzle for our display.
The children wanted to make a Scarecrow Nat Nat and enthusiastically helped create all three scarecrows featured in our scene.
Promoting Inclusion & Awareness
At Sunflowers Nursery, inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. As part of our commitment to celebrating diversity and raising awareness of different children’s needs, we wanted our display to reflect every child in our community. That’s why our entry includes a scarecrow child with a nasogastric (NG) feeding tube.
It has been a wonderful way to spark meaningful, gentle conversations with the children about how everybody is unique and how we care for one another.

The Saxilby Scarecrow Trail is a fantastic local tradition that brings our whole community together for some outdoor half-term fun. Whether you’re following the trail map with your family over the school break or just popping by while out on a walk, be sure to stop by and say hello to Nat Nat and friends!
